The Pak 43/L71 was an adaptation of the Flak "88" anti-aircraft gun turned anti-tank gun. The Pak43 had an barrel length of 21 feet, giving it the incredible ability to penetrate 19 centimeters of armor at a reange of 1000 meters. The Pak43/L71 was produced in both the cruciform anti-aircraft mount and split tail mount typifying the dedicated anti-tank variation (designated Pak 43/41 L71). While the "88" was very effective against Allied armor, its large size made it less mobile and harder to hide than smaller Pak weapons.
