The Messerschmitt Bf109 was the primary single-seat, piston engined fighter plane used by Germany during World War II. Developed in the 1930's to fulfill the fighter / intercepter role, it incorporated all of the features that would be considered state-of-the art for World War II: an all-metal mono-plane and a fully enclosed canopy. The Bf109 would see continual upgrades as technology advanced and it's roles increased on the battlefield and in the skies. The Bf109 K ("Kurfürst in the German phonetic alphabet of the time) was the final war-time iteration of Willy Messerschmitt's fighter design and participated heavily in battles such as Operation Bodenplatte (Baseplate) during the Battle of the Bulge. The Messerschmitt Bf109 was the most produced fighter aircraft design of all time and saw service for two decades after the close of World War II.

Brickmania is releasing the Bf109 "Kurfürst" building kit as the beginning of a whole new series of World War II aircraft. Due to scarcity of some of the pieces used in this kit, production will be much more limited than standard Brickmania kits.
