The WWI British Royal Horse Artillery Gunner was part of the elite Royal Horse Artillery (RHA), responsible for handling lighter & faster field guns, riding with cavalry, and for providing mobile fire support for troops. Being proficient in both horsemanship and artillery tactics, their job was to deploy and redeploy artillery where and when it was needed. During World War I they were equipped with the rapid fire, Ordnance QF 13 Pounder field gun, specifically designed to support the Royal Cavalry brigades.
