Designed for practical, everyday use by the British armed forces, Tillys were built using the chassis and components of pre-war civilian cars, such as those made by Austin, Morris, Hillman, and Standard. These vehicles were adapted for military service by adding features like simplified bodywork, increased ground clearance, and rugged suspension systems. Tillys played a vital role in supporting logistics, transporting personnel and light cargo, and performing a range of non-combat duties throughout the war. Their reliability and versatility made them a crucial part of Britain's wartime motor pool.
