About the Sikorsky® MH-60M Black Hawk® - Special Operations Multirole Helicopter:

The MH-60M Black Hawk helicopter is a highly specialized assault helicopter, flown by the U.S. Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), known as the “Night Stalkers.” Used for both assault and attack mission, the MH-60M carries not only specialist personnel, but also specialized equipment. The helicopter carries fast ropes, the Special Patrol Insertion & Extraction System, and a rescue hoist, all designed to enable the helicopter to insert and extract special operations forces quickly and efficiently.

The MH-60M also bristles with weapons. Serving in a Defensive Air Penetrator (DAP) role, the helicopter performs armed escort and close air support missions, deploying a combination of M134 mini-guns, M230 30mm chain guns, rocket pods with high-explosive, smoke, or anti-personnel rounds, Hellfire missiles, Air to Air Stinger, and potentially even a GUA .50 cal gatling gun. In addition, the four crew members are aided by advanced sensors, threat detection systems, and communications equipment. In the hands of the SOAR Night Stalkers, the MH-60M is a deadly and invaluable weapon and tool. The cutting-edge and versatile helicopter enables the special operations unit to accomplish difficult and critical insertion and extraction missions, attacks, and reconnaissance work in the harshest and most dangerous conditions.
