The Roman Auxilia Soldiers were the locally raised military arm of the Roman Empire. Their duties included guarding the frontiers and representing the military might of the Roman Empire across the far flung provinces. They were a separate entity from the marching armies of the Roman Legions, but were nevertheless a formidable fighting force in their own right.
