About the Revolutionary War British Grenadier

In his overwhelming and everlasting wisdom, his Britannic Majesty King George the III created the special elite military units known as Grenadiers. Composed of the largest and best-trained foot soldiers in the kingdom, the Grenadiers were at the vanguard of all British military actions, serving as shock troops against enemies and rebels alike. While the origins of the name Grenadier were traced back to soldiers once trained to throw iron bombs at the enemy, by the late 18th century, the preferred weapons of the grenadier were muskets and steel. 

During the continental rebellion, it was the Grenadiers that secured peace and security for His Majesty’s Colony of New York in 1776. The Grenadiers prowess on the battlefields of the Americas was so renowned, that the Colonials would attempt to raise their own Grenadier regiments, mimicking the same tactics, and even copying the fine uniforms down and pointed mitre headgear. If it was not for the treachery of the French Navy at Yorktown, the insolent rebels would never have been able to tarnish the glory of His Majesty’s Grenadiers with the ugly of stain of defeat.
