About the MH-53E Sea Dragon - US Navy Mine Sweeping & Heavy Lift Helicopter:

Thundering over the ocean waves, the MH-53H Sea Dragon exudes power, strength, and capability. Operated by the United States Navy, the Sea Dragon originally was developed to find and clear naval mines from strategic waterways, but it developed into a versatile tool ready for many missions. 

The Navy developed the Sea Dragon within the Sikorsky H-53 family, building on the heavy-lift CH-53 Sea Stallion from the 1960s. Naval mines increasingly plagued vital waterways, and the Navy needed to clear the dangerous channels quickly and efficiently. To meet this need, the Sea Dragon features a large, boat-shaped fuselage, a six-bladed main rotor, and powerful twin turboshaft engines. The spacious cabin could carry cargo, equipment, or personnel, and its strong airframe allowed it to tow heavy mine-hunting and mine-sweeping systems. The helicopter’s large fuel capacity also gave it the endurance needed for long missions over open water.

The MH-53H’s primary role was clearing naval mines from coastal waters, harbors, and shipping lanes, so the helicopter was built large and powerful enough to tow either sonar systems designed to locate mines or specialized sweep gear designed to trigger mines safely before ships entered an area. However, beyond these specialized capabilities, the Sea Dragon also could transport cargo, support search-and-rescue operations, and assist with logistics missions. Combining exceptional lifting power, long range, and specialized equipment, the MH-53H Sea Dragon became one of the most capable maritime helicopters ever operated by the U.S. Navy.

The default livery will be HM-15 “The Blackhawks”, but you will have the option to switch it to HM-14 “Vanguard” or HM-12 Sea Dragons as well. This is a full swap-out (including the patches on the minifigs’ sleeves) so not an “add-on pack.”

The model comes set up for mine sweeping operations and includes equipment for deploying the AQS-24 sonar array. It also comes with parts necessary to convert the airframe for troop transport missions, including three BrickArms® GAU-21 door / ramp guns.
