About the M4A1 Sherman (75mm) – Allied Medium Tank:

After the success of the early production versions of the M4 were tested, the US military made an update to its Sherman tank titled the M4A1. This edition had a smooth, fully rounded cast hull that gave it a distinct and somewhat iconic look compared to all of the other Shermans in the M4 lineup. They produced over 6,200 M4A1 (75mm)s until it was replaced with the upgunned M4A1 with the 76mm barrel. The M4A1, along with many other variants, served in both the European and Pacific Theaters of combat, as well as used by British Commonwealth forces under the designation Sherman Mk 2.
