About the M2 Bradley - Infantry Fighting Vehicle:

The M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle provides speed, protection, firepower, and the ability to carry infantry, critical attributes when crossing a vast desert with enemy armor somewhere beyond the horizon. 

Named for General Omar Bradley, the tracked armored vehicle carries infantry into battle while also fighting alongside tanks. With a three-person crew, it can carry six infantry soldiers, as well as a powerful 25mm automatic cannon and TOW anti-tank missiles.

First entering combat in the 1991 Gulf War, the Bradley was put to the test during Operation Desert Storm. When the U.S. and coalition force’s ground offensive began in February 1991, Bradleys accompanied U.S. armored and mechanized formations as they advanced across the desert. 

The Bradley demonstrated its useful combination of mobility, infantry support, and significant firepower. The 25mm cannon was effective against lighter armored vehicles, while its TOW missiles could engage enemy tanks at greater distances. Bradley units destroyed numerous Iraqi armored vehicles during the campaign, a performance that helped establish its reputation as a capable and versatile combat vehicle. 

The Bradleys gave U.S. infantry both the protection and firepower they needed to move rapidly across the battlefield and support armored formations.
