About the M1117 Guardian - Textron Systems® COMMANDO® Series Armored Vehicle :

The M1117 Guardian balances protection, mobility, and firepower. To meet the U.S. military’s operational need for a vehicle with greater survivability than a Humvee and more agility than traditional armored personnel carriers, Textron Marine and Land Systems developed the Guardian with an angular hull and modular armor systems. The double-V hull deflects blast energy away from the vehicle, which proved invaluable when encountering roadside bombs in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Guardian carries a crew of three—driver, gunner, and commander—with room for additional personnel. A .50-caliber machine gun and a 40mm Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher in the turret give the Guardian meaningful defensive and offensive capability, and the reliable diesel engine and independent suspension system give the Guardian impressive mobility across difficult terrain. Useful for convoy escort, route security, and urban patrols, the Guardian’s combination of protection, speed, and firepower make it a versatile and resilient armored vehicle.
