At the start of Operation Barbarossa, control of the skies was critical. Axis and Soviet forces grappled to disrupt each other’s supply lines and keep their troops on the ground supported. The German’s Kfz4 was a light 4x4 car that had a twin AA mount. These cars helped provide light, mobile, anti-aircraft protection to infantry units and vehicles.
