About the Jolly Green II - Sikorsky® HH-60W PAVE Hawk® Combat Search & Rescue Helicopter :

The HH-60W Jolly Green II is the U.S. Air Force’s most advanced combat rescue helicopter, purpose-built to save lives in the most dangerous conditions. Replacing the successful but aged HH-60G Pave Hawk, the Jolly Green II is designed for combat search and rescue (CSAR) missions and recovering isolated or wounded personnel from hostile territory, under fire, and in extreme weather.

The Jolly Green II impressively combines power, endurance, and survivability. It boasts speed, capable of reaching almost 180 mph, durability, able to climb to 20,000 feet, and dependability,  capable of traveling almost 700 miles. It is rugged, with two engines and wide rotor blades that increase survivability and provide stability and lifting strength. Its rescue hoist can lift 8,000 pounds of personnel or equipment. 

In addition to rescue missions, the Jolly Green II is prepared for combat. It features armor protection, advanced warning systems for missiles and enemy fire, and mounted machine guns such as 7.62 mm or .50 caliber guns, which allow it to defend itself and its crew during high-risk rescues. In addition, cutting-edge avionics, including multi-function displays, tactical data links, and real-time communication systems, give the crew exceptional situational awareness and allow missions to be carried out day, night, or in low visibility.

The Jolly Green II is ready for combat rescue deployments, disaster response, and humanitarian missions, continuing a proud legacy of saving lives in conflicts and crises around the globe. It represents a critical lifeline, often the difference between survival and loss in the harshest conditions.
