About the Cougar JERRV with EOD Robot:

The formidable Cougar MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) blends ruggedness and innovation in order to keep its crew safe in some of the most hazardous situations. Developed in response to the increasing threat of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the Cougar is designed to prioritize protection. Its distinctive V-shaped hull deflects the blast of roadside bombs and landmines, increasing the survivability of the vehicle and its occupants, and its heavy armor can withstand shrapnel and small arms fire. The Cougar’s elevated chassis gives it excellent mobility over rough terrain, but it also provides a commanding presence on the battlefield. While bulky, it also is maneuverable and proves useful both in urban and off-road settings. 

The Cougar often is involved in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operations, where its protection and maneuverability prove invaluable. On EOD missions, the vehicle serves as a mobile command post and safety hub, allowing technicians to approach the explosives with some protection. Inside, teams can deploy advanced EOD robots, remote-controlled machines equipped with cameras, manipulators, and disruptors, which allow them to investigate and neutralize EODs from a distance. The Cougar’s armor shields the operators while they control the EOD robots, allowing both proximity and protection. Thus, the Cougar serves as both a guardian and a gateway in dangerous missions where the team operates in a small crucial margin of safety.
