About Beelzebub - Marines' 4th Tank Battalion M4A3 Sherman:

The Battle of Iwo Jima was one of the final and most bloody battles fought by the US Marines in the Pacific during World War II.  Located at midway point between American bomber bases and the Mariana Islands and mainland Japan, the island of Iwo Jima was determined to be vital as a staging area for fighters escorts for US Bombers, as well as an emergency landing strip for damaged aircraft returning from their bomb runs. Three US Marine divisions, supported by a fleet of over 500 naval ships, stormed ashore on the heavily fortified island on the morning of February 19th, 1945. Defending the island was a force of 21,000 Japanese soldiers and sailor, who had spent months making bunkers and digging tunnels for the island's defense. Fighting on Iwo Jima was very bloody and costly and lasted for nearly six weeks.

In support of the operations, the US Marines landed three battalions, equipped with M4A3 Sherman tanks, most armed with conventional guns, but flamer-thrower equipped variants were also present. We have chosen a tank from the Marines 4th Tank Battalion, Company B, appropriately named Beezelbub, to represent this battle. Modifications to the tank include removable breathing trunks, used while the tank was coming ashore from the landing craft, a freshwater tank on the rear deck for crew and infantry, additional side armor with wooden boards to foil magnetic anti-tank mines, and wire mesh over the tank's hatches to prevent satchel charges from being placed on them.  The tanks were essential to clearing out fortified positions and many would be knocked out and repaired several times during the course of the battle. There were very few that survived the fighting on Iwo Jima with all of their original crew and equipment intact. 

This new M4A3 includes lots of great printing throughout, fully articulated Brickmania Tracklinks, and a BrickArms M2HB machine gun on the turret.  It also includes a brand new Marine Tanker minifigure totally unique to this kit. Beezelbub is surely one of those kit not to be missed!
