I.R. Controlled T-26 General Pershing "Tiger Tamer"

Above is a version of my T-26 Pershing Tank designed specifically around the remote controlled motorized brick that comes with the Bionicle 8539 Manas set. The non-motorized versions does not have the light gray Technic bushings extending from the number 1 and 2 road wheels, nor the extra gear inside the 6th; all necessary to build around the motorized brick. The clear "fiber optic" tube protruding from the rear hull receives the infra red signal from the remote control unit and directs it to the receiving sensor on the side of the motorized brick (see below). I am still in the process of experimenting with different arrangements of this system to improve signal reception. The idea for submachine gun in the gunner's hand was taken from a recent Brickshelf posting by Kotaro Ono.

The picture below shows the tank with the hull top and turret removed to expose the motorized brick and suspension arrangement. Each track is independently powered and steering is achieved by braking or reversing opposing tracks. Unfortunately, the motorized brick has only one speed (very fast) and can cause some problems when manuevering in tight quarters! The motorized brick will fit into most of my 1:35 scale, 8-wide tank hulls and I am currently working on motorized versions of my Panther and Tiger tanks. Other possible (but not built) ideas include motorized Tiger II and Stalin WW2 heavy tanks as well as the much requested M1A1 Abrams.
